Vero cell & BHK ELISA kits

for detection of Host Cell Protein in Vaccine Products

Cygnus is pleased to announce the availability of its newest kit to our growing line of HCP detection methods. Vero cell HCP ELISA kit, Catalog #F500, is available as of   May 2008. This kit has been comprehensively validated according to conventional analytical criteria as recommended in GMP and ICH guidelines. The kit was developed using actual final product and in-process samples for 4 different products from 4 vaccine manufacturers. These products included whole virus vaccines as well as recombinant proteins. The broadly reactive affinity purified polyclonal antibodies demonstrate a very high degree of conservation of HCP across all Vero cell lines tested. The robustness of this very sensitive and specific ELISA method should facilitate successful validation for almost any product expressed in Vero cells.

Currently under development and validation is an ELISA kit for Baby Hamster Kidney (BHK) HCPs. BHK cells have been successfully used for production of recombinant proteins as well as virus. This assay employs our same proven technologies used in the dozens of HCP assays currently available from Cygnus. The BHK HCP ELISA kit is scheduled for release in July 2008.
